Cari's technique builds singers' from the foundation up, or in addition to existing technique. Using alignment, breath, tone and resonance, the technique reveals the "real voice" unencumbered by compensatory muscles. Natural resonance, diaphragmatic breathing and breath control, laryngeal resistance, "building the bridge" and creating a strong, resilient voice are the hallmarks of her training heralded by Grammy winners, American Idol's and rock stars around the globe. Using classical pedagogy is important, but most contemporary singers don’t want to sound like opera singers. Opera teachers will insist that there is no difference in technique whether you sing opera or pop. I understand their thinking, but I do not agree. An opera teacher does not understand the “pop” or “rock” sound and cannot guide their singers to it. Contemporary singers use a much straighter and brighter tone and the sound is a radically different from classical.
